Moving forward with drug and alcohol treatment and recovery services in Berks County. We Need Your Input!
Addiction touches all our lives, and it is essential that every community has access to drug and alcohol treatment and recovery services that are responsive to local needs. Addiction treatment is the management and care of a patient suffering from drug or alcohol abuse to reduce or eliminate the adverse effects of the disease upon the patient. It is important to know that no single treatment approach is appropriate for all individuals, and that sustained recovery may require multiple courses of treatment with multiple approaches, as is true for other illnesses or diseases.
The Council on Chemical Abuse (COCA) serves as the coordinating agency for drug and alcohol services in Berks County. Through its leadership role, COCA provides oversight of services that prevent substance use and promote treatment and recovery from addiction. Every five years, COCA engages in a needs assessment process that examines the local demand and utilization of the continuum of drug and alcohol treatment services as well as barriers to accessing services. Part of this needs assessment process is to engage community input as to their perceptions of drug and alcohol treatment and recovery services.
As readers of El Palo, we believe your input is valuable in this needs assessment process. Please utilize the following Link to complete the Community Substance Use Services Survey (in English or Spanish). For questions, e-mail mghinnershitz@cocaberks.org
