The Holidays are usually seen as a happy time for many of us, but what happens when the holidays are over? We tend to get into what we call the Winter Blues, which is when you begin to lose motivation, feel sadder than normal, and have less energy than you would like. We tend to isolate due to the weather, and it is becoming darker earlier. The good news is that there are things that we can do to have a Winter reset. So now what is a winter reset? A winter reset gives a chance to change the way you think and makes it less possible for you to become depressed. It can be difficult to think of things that we enjoy doing, especially during the winter months. However, there are different things we can do to improve our mindset.
Let us look at some examples:
- Get rest/sleep- our mind needs some downtime to help us avoid becoming overwhelmed.
- Exercise- going to the gym is good, but there are many things we can do at home to keep us active as well.
- Plan a theme night that would be fun for you and your loved ones. It is important to keep social connections.
- Find a hobby and something that you have always wanted to do.
What else can you think of? Be creative and make it fun. Let’s get through the winter together.
If you find that no matter what you do, your symptoms persist or become worse, it is time for you to seek the help of a professional. 2-1-1 PROVIDES FREE INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES
