Palo Magazine is thrilled to introduce a new, local Latina author, Jennifer Adames, whose timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Not only was her debut book, The Song of the Coquí, released during Hispanic Heritage Month, but we also had the honor of hosting her very first book signing event at one of Palo’s own special gatherings. In celebration of her book launch, we invited her to our Puerto Rican Mural Inauguration, El Boricuazo, making it a truly unforgettable occasion. It was a beautiful moment of cultural connection, and we couldn’t be prouder to support a talented local author as she begins this exciting new chapter.
Jennifer Adames was born and raised in Reading, PA. For over 20 years, she has worked as a graphic designer and photographer, using her art to tell stories and capture moments. From a young age, she had a deep love for books, and creating one of her own had always been a dream she carried with her.
The Song of the Coquí follows the journey of a young girl who travels from Reading to Puerto Rico after the loss of her beloved abuela. Guided by the soothing sound of the coquí frogs, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, learning that love, culture, and cherished memories are never truly lost—they stay with her, always.
This story is deeply personal to Jennifer. It reflects her love for her hometown, her Puerto Rican heritage, and the importance of family in shaping one’s identity. Through this book, Jennifer hopes to preserve and share these connections, passing them on to the next generations. Her goal is to remind readers that, no matter where life leads, our roots and memories are always a part of us.
