Financial literacy at a young age can be vital to financial success as an adult. That’s why Visions Federal Credit Union is here, to not only support adults but also children and teens with defining and reaching their financial goals. Local events, key partnerships, and our in-school financial wellness center at Reading High School are essential to making that happen.
Earlier this year, more than 25 Visions employees and student interns supported America’s Credit Unions and the Greater Reading Reality Fair Committee at the Financial Reality Fair hosted in the Reading High School gymnasium. The fair provided an opportunity for high school students to simulate a real-world budget by managing an imaginary salary with potential debt and monthly expenses. After building their budget, students reviewed their financial success and received helpful tips by meeting with a financial counselor.
Through these immersive exercises and our variety of in person and virtual financial wellness resources, we’re proud to encourage young people to build healthy savings and good credit. In addition to connecting with our Financial Wellness Officers for free one-on-one financial counseling, students and Visions members* can access Zogo, a gamified financial literacy app, on their mobile devices or tap into other free resources online at visionsfcu.org/walletwellness.
