On Saturday, December 14, 2019, fashionista and man about town, Natan Pulido Perez hosted the RDG VNTG EXPO at the WCR Building in downtown Reading. With the help of fashion expert and owner of Frock on Penn Ave., Susan Golembiski, and writer and entrepreneur, David Nazario, the RDG VNTG EXPO compiled some of the best vintage and thrifted clothing in Berks County and used them for a one-of-a-kind fashion show featuring twenty-two models from the area.
Utilizing clothing from their personal collections, as well as from stores like Frock and City Thrift on Penn Street., Pulido Perez, Golembiski and Nazario styled all of the models who ranged in age, ethnicity and sexual orientation (Evangelina Ramos and friends from Tina’s Salon on Penn Ave. handled hair styling duties). The expo also included a market featuring A Touch of Grace, Jag Vintage, Felxico Vintage, Vintage Flava, Laura Reppert Collection, and GLUXE CO. After the fashion show, the night continued on with an afterparty hosted by Flashqueen Presents and DJ Luis, and a live performance by the CMD Dolls.
Our mission is to bring awareness to the many benefits of vintage and thrift fashion – on both the micro and macro levels – while also stimulating the economy in Berks County and creating a space for creatives to do what they love, whether it be modeling or photography. Being that fashion is one of the most wasteful industries in the world, Pulido Perez, Golembiski and Nazario want to help promote thrift and vintage fashion in a fun and inclusive way.
The RDG VNTG EXPO will host their next event at the WCR Building on April 25, 2020. Search RDG VNTG EXPO on Eventbrite and Facebook for ticket information, and be sure to follow RDG VNTG EXPO on Instagram @RDGVNTGEXPO.
