Most of us with partners can sometimes forget to express our gratitude for them. Unfortunately, if this happens for too long, our relationship can be ruined. The good news is that there are many ways to show your appreciation. So, let's go ahead and talk about 5 ways that we can do this.
Be present- with this being the technology era, including social media, we can very easily get lost in our phones, and this causes us to not have our undivided attention on our partner when we are together. Make sure they are feeling heard and that what they are saying is important to you. Go ahead and put that phone down.
Notice the little things- have you ever missed something new about your partner? Maybe a new outfit, hairstyle, a new project they are working on? It can be so easy to be wrapped up in our busy lives that small things can be overlooked, so pay attention to our partner and give them a compliment when you notice something new.
Offer to help- yes, we are already busy, but sometimes our partners are feeling overwhelmed, so checking in with them and offering help with anything that is going on in their lives will be appreciated. Most times, though, all they really want is for you to listen to them, not to solve their problems.
Honor feelings- we can be quick to dismiss our partner’s feelings, maybe because that is not how we feel. Let’s do better with listening and being respectful.
Write notes thanking them or saying something kind- it may seem silly or even small but write notes and put it in your partner’s car or somewhere that they can easily find it. Even a text every morning wishing them a good day or throughout the day will mean more than you think.
Sometimes we miss the opportunity to strengthen the bond with our partner, but the small things go a long way. Show your partner that you are grateful for them and everything they do. Make them feel that they are important in your life.
