On Sunday, June 26 we celebrated Texture Curl Bar’s First anniversary. We celebrated by hosting a Curly Girl Brunch for our clients, friends, and family. The event took place at Say Cheese on Penn Avenue in West Reading, and it was fabulous!
Our guests enjoyed a delicious brunch, bottomless mimosas, and education provided by the team of stylists from Texture Curl Bar. The event was sold out and we had a full house with over 70 guests in attendance.
It is such an honor to be the first and only hair salon in Reading, PA fully dedicated to the care of curly hair. I opened the hair salon in the middle of the pandemic. It was a big risk, but I felt it in my heart that the time was right. I started with just me as a stylist and my husband helped me when he was available. As time evolved, I hired more stylists and we are now a team of 6 licensed stylists, a salon manager, and a salon coordinator. We are a team of 8! It’s amazing to see the growth we’ve had in a year.
Not only did I hire and train a full team but as the team grew, we were able to expand on the services we offer. When I started, I only did Texture Cuts, which is our signature curly cut. Then I added hair color services and styling such as updo’s and wash and go’s.
Our stylists are a group of talented women who have their own focus within the natural hair world. This allowed us to expand our services to be a full natural hair salon. Our menu continues to have our core services, Texture cuts, styling, and color, in addition, we now offer braiding and protective styles, locs, hair extensions, curly girl blowouts, and more. Our goal is to continue to grow and expand our services.
We are grateful for the support from the curly community of Reading, PA. It is because of your support that Texture Curl Bar has grown and evolved.
Part of the goal for our event was to highlight other women in the community who are entrepreneurs and are a resource for other women. My favorite part of the event was giving these women an opportunity to share a little about themselves and their businesses. We had women who also work in the beauty industry, accountants, realtors, therapists, teachers, bakers, photographers, store owners, and more.
Our curly girl brunch started as a simple idea and slowly developed into an empowering event full of outstanding women ready to learn from one another and support each other, I could not have asked for more, I loved every second of it!
This was such a beautiful celebration, I’m excited to see what the future has in store for us!
