Learning the importance of hair hygiene at an early age is essential for kids. Not only is it good for their health but it’s also good for their development and self-esteem.
I started teaching my daughter about her hair at a very early age. I started very slowly by doing her hair in front of the mirror, showing her the brushes and accessories I was placing on her hair and talking through the process. Doing her hair became part of our daily routine.
The question most parents often ask is, how often should I wash my child’s hair? The answer to this question is it depends. It depends on the child’s age, their lifestyle, and their hair type. If your child has curly hair I recommend you wash their hair at least once a week with warm water and moistening products. My favorite kid’s hair care line is the Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus line. This line is overall very clean and contains some organic ingredients that clean, moisturize and maintain the integrity of the hair.
The most important thing is to have a consistent routine and to keep your child’s hair and scalp clean to allow the hair to grow healthy and strong.
