I grew up watching men work nonstop. The message was clear: being a provider meant being absent. If you were home, it meant you were not doing enough. For a long time, that was the image of success in many Latino families — working hard, sacrificing, and putting responsibilities ahead of family time.
Today, I am a father of twin girls, a husband, an agency owner, and someone who works with technology every day. And I have learned something important: success is not measured only by invoices or income. It is also measured by how many times you were present when your children needed you.
Many Latinos still carry an old idea of what it means to be a provider, but times have changed. Today, it is possible to build a business without sacrificing every family dinner or every important moment at home.
Technology, when used correctly, is giving us an advantage our parents never had time. Digital tools allow us to respond to clients from our phones while sitting at the park with our children or automate processes so we can finish work earlier. It is not about working less — it is about working differently.
I believe I belong to a generation of men that is redefining success. It is no longer just about the car, the money, or the growing business. It is also about the father who arrives on time, the husband who listens, and the man who learns to rest without guilt.
If you are reading this and feel like you are not doing enough, you are not alone. Many of us are trying to build something meaningful without losing what matters most along the way. And maybe that is the true definition of success: growing professionally while still being present for the people we love most.
