Each December, one home becomes a gathering place where the spirit of Christmas truly comes alive. Friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family are welcomed into the home of Bryan and Carey Hirneisen for their annual Christmas open house, a tradition built on love, craftsmanship, and community.
Bryan has always loved Christmas and the joy that comes from spending time with others. Hosting this open house allows him to bring together the people who matter most while sharing something he is deeply passionate about. The event is more than a celebration; it’s an experience that reflects years of dedication and holiday spirit.
The tradition began in 1999, when Bryan, a skilled carpenter, built an addition onto their home. From the very beginning, Christmas was part of the plan. The blueprints included double doors from the garage and a balcony connecting the living room and basement, all designed to accommodate a stunning 15-foot Christmas tree. Each year, that towering tree becomes the centerpiece of the home and the heart of the celebration.
Decorating the tree is a tradition of its own. Extended family gathers to help, turning the work into a joyful event filled with laughter and memories. It marks the official start of the holiday season and sets the tone for the weeks to come.
Guests who attend the open house are invited to explore every corner of the home. Downstairs, visitors step into a world of nostalgia. A large train display circles the room, reflecting Bryan’s lifelong love of trains and cars. Vintage décor fills the space, including classic Coca-Cola memorabilia, an old refrigerator, vintage clocks, and even a complete diner booth where guests can sit and enjoy the atmosphere.
As guests walk through the home with cookies and warm cider in hand, they admire the decorations, the craftsmanship, and the stories behind each display. The open house offers a chance to reconnect, share conversations, and experience the joy of the season together.
For the Hirneisen family, Bryan, Carey, and Andy, this annual gathering is about more than decorations. It’s about opening their doors, welcoming their community, and creating lasting memories. Each year, their home reminds everyone who visits that the true magic of Christmas is found in tradition, generosity, and togetherness.
