In May 2025, the Samaná peninsula in the Dominican Republic was the scene of a An intimate and transformative encounter: the retreat “I Decided to Be Light”. Over four days, twenty women came together to pause in the midst of everyday life and treat themselves to a space for deep self-care, emotional healing, and authentic connection.
The itinerary integrated wellness practices such as meditation, gentle yoga, reflective writing, and therapeutic workshops. One of the most challenging and powerful moments was the ice bath experience, which invited each participant to confront their own inner strength and discover the calm that comes when we learn to breathe in the midst of discomfort.
There were also spaces for deep healing: we worked on forgiving and letting go of what anchored us to the past, closing cycles with love. The experience culminated in a fire dynamic, in which each woman wrote down what she wanted to leave behind and gave it to the flames, symbolizing a rebirth from freedom and clarity.
Beyond the activities, the retreat became a circle of support and community. Women from different backgrounds shared confidences, laughter, and tears, remembering that vulnerability does not weaken, but unites. The nature of Samaná and the rituals at sunset were the perfect setting for this inner journey.

The experience was so significant that it will be repeated in February 2026, offering a new opportunity to reconnect, heal, and choose to be light.
