As we send our students back into classrooms and campuses, it’s clear that the back-to-school season is about more than just supplies and schedules. It’s a time for reflection, reset, and real conversations whether you’re a kindergartener with a new backpack or a college grad stepping into your first job. In my house hold I have a recent college grad stepping into his career and my daughter returning to the Reading School District for her full second year as a 10th grade English Language Arts teacher and currently finishing up her masters. I don’t have babies anymore but it’s still hectic in our household as they both are at the age where they are truly adulting and that in itself is a major chapter of their lives.
In this issue, we ask bold questions like: Are You Really Ready for the Real World?
And we dive into the everyday pressures and decisions students and families face topics like teen stress, drugs, getting back on a schedule, morning routines, and even teaching children financial skills as a key part of their lifestyle.
We also explore the tension between Grades vs. Skills, the physical toll of overloaded backpacks, and celebrate what makes our schools stronger: The power of diversity & inclusion
through real stories, expert insights, and practical advice this edition aims to start the year informed, empowered, and a little more prepared.
Whether you’re a parent, student, educator or all three. We hope you find something in these pages that speaks to your experience.
Here’s to a year of learning in every sense of the word.
