But now and then, I get the perfect mix of work and leisure, and my recent trip to the Dominican Republic was just that. I had the opportunity to escape, reset, and renew while hosting a 40th birthday celebration for a close friend at Riu Resort.
There is something magical about the Dominican Republic. From the moment we landed, the warmth of the sun and the vibrant culture welcomed us. It was the ideal place to unwind, reflect, and soak in some much-needed relaxation. As much as I love booking trips for others, being able to experience one myself, especially when it doubles as a free trip, reminds me why I do what I do. It was a working vacation that gave me the freedom to enjoy paradise while still being in my element.
The highlight of the trip was celebrating my friend’s milestone birthday in style. We surprised her with a stunning beachside dinner at ZoHo, a beautiful restaurant right by the ocean. The ambiance, the food, and the crashing waves created a memory we will never forget. It was the perfect way to honor her 40th and bask in the joy of friendship.
This trip reminded me that travel is not just about seeing new places; it is about renewal, laughter, and creating moments that fuel the soul. And sometimes, the best part of being a travel agent is enjoying the journey yourself.
