About a year ago I decided that I was going to approach life more holistically. First, I started by visiting my doctor and had all kinds of blood work done. I wanted to know what if anything was off balance. I was told that I had a few numbers that came back slightly high, but I felt blessed that I could correct them, some people find out when it is too late. I feel blessed.
I cut out a lot of sugar, limited fried foods, started exercising, took more time to relax, read more, went to a few spiritual events, started meditating, and decided to stay home more and not participate in too many events. The bonus, I lost forty pounds, I have saved a lot of money, and I feel great. Therefore, in this edition, I wanted to share the importance of keeping track of your overall health. We have been taught that taking care of ourselves is something more physical like going to the gym, but we forget that mental health is just as important.
Holistic health is an approach to well-being that considers the whole person, focusing on the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. It addresses all aspects of life—physical, nutritional, emotional, and spiritual—to promote balance and prevent illness. Emphasizing preventive care and personal empowerment encourages individuals to make informed lifestyle choices and manage stress through techniques like mindfulness and meditation. By integrating these practices with conventional medicine, holistic health fosters a deeper understanding of oneself and supports long-term wellness.
