I am Dan Ly, a junior in the Advertising Design/Commercial Art (ADC) program at Reading Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center. My time at RMCTC has been amazing, shaping my future in a very positive way. The ADC program focuses on hands-on learning and has allowed me to work on live projects for clients.
I recently designed branding for Everlong Records, a new record/coffee shop in Berks County. First, I needed to find out what the client’s needs were and take their suggestions into account. Then, I sketched ideas on paper until I found the right one. After that, I created the design using Adobe Illustrator, making sure the colors, shapes, and designs were perfect and reflected the preliminary sketches I had made. Feedback from the client then helped me make the necessary changes to the design. Finally, I used mockup templates to see how the logo appeared on t-shirts, hats, coffee mugs, and signage so the client could imagine what their logo would look like when applied. This design process is not just about making a cool-looking design; it is about improving my skills and learning more about graphic design.
RMCTC has helped me share my creativity with more people. The supportive environment here has been crucial in fueling my passion for graphic design. The ADC program has given me a strong foundation and confidence to pursue a career in the design field. I am excited for what is to come, thanks to the many opportunities RMCTC has given to me.
