Palo Magazine wanted to share this great story of a successful, local, and young entrepreneur. Let us introduce you to Genaro Vicencio better known as “Yayo” owner of the famous Yayo’s Painting business. If you have not seen at least one, two, or ten of his billboards throughout Berks County then you have not been out and about much. They are everywhere not to mention his colorful vehicles.
Yayo has done a great job of branding his business at such a young age. We at Palo admire his work ethic, business knowledge, outlook on life, and most of all his great personality. We had fun doing the photo shoot and meeting some of his crew like John and Kevin. Today we are sharing his story as we see a future powerful millionaire entrepreneur & community leader in the works. I hope that in less than five years we can share an updated story in a segment called Where is Yayo today? No pressure Yayo!!!
Yayo, 23, has an interesting mixed parentage being that he has a Mexican mom and a Greek father. His parents met in Mexico, where his father was stationed for mandatory military service. Yayo was raised by his Mexican grandmother, he then moved to Berks County at age ten with his mom, and that is where he fell in love with the craft and challenge of painting. At the age of twenty-one unsatisfied that the companies he worked for did not allow him to paint to his high standards, he started Yayo’s Painting in 2021.
PM: What do you credit your rapid growth to?
Yayo: I credit my rapid growth to my focus on doing each job right and providing the best possible service, which leads to glowing recommendations, repeat customers, and lots of referrals. Though I put in long hours, because I love what I do, I feel like I have not worked a day in my life. We live by our slogan “Craftmanship is our Passion.”
PM: You are twenty-three and already successful, what advice would you give to the youth?
Yayo: It is simple, “If there is a will there is a way”
PM: What makes you get up in the morning? What is your WHY?
Yayo: My son and my will to become something in life. I had rough beginnings, but I had lots of tough love to guide me and make me the man I am today. The age is just a number the willingness to succeed and do better for myself and my son is my drive.
PM: Who in your life would you like to give a special thanks to for helping you out or for being your mentor?
Yayo: First, I would like to thank my late grandmother, she took care of me from the time I was six months old until I was 10 years old. She taught me about hard work and respect and most importantly she believed in me. Secondly, I would like to thank the late Dr. Ivan L. Torres, an Ecuadorian graduate from Kutztown University and a professor at RACC. He was a great mentor to me, and I will never forget all he did for me.
If you need painting services for interior, exterior, custom, furniture, limewash, deck staining, and more call Yayo’s Painting. Even though we are still months away if you need your holiday day lights up, he will take care of those as well via his other business Aurora Lighting.
