My Dad Taught Me the Importance of Quality Work
We interviewed German K. Arroyo, he is the Sprinter Brand Manager for Tom Masano Inc., Mercedes Benz. Where they are members of the Tom Masano Auto Group which owns and manages dealerships selling Mercedes Benz, Ford, Lincoln, and BMW.
PM: German K. Arroyo, where were you born & raised?
GKA: I was born in Chicago and raised in North Jersey, by my mother and grandmother both of whom instilled deep work ethics into me came to Reading in my late teens, been here long enough to raise two adult children and become a grandfather.
PM: Tell me about your dad’s business and how that influenced your career today.
GKA: My father was already established in Pennsylvania and started German’s Glass Service over 30 years ago, I jumped into business with him in my late twenties… aside from teaching me a beautiful craft/ skill that I still love today, he also taught me the importance of quality work 100% of the time. He was one of those “do it right or don’t do it at all”. “Care about what you do, not what others want you to do” My mom she taught me work ethics, and my father taught me how to apply them.
PM: How long have you been at Tom Masanos & what do you love most about it?
GKA: I am going on my 12th year with Tom Masano Inc. What I love most about it is interacting with different people from different walks of life… everyone from seasoned buyers that buy every 3 or 4 years, to business owners that need Vans to keep their business moving to the first-time buyer that sometimes needs guidance on how and what and why to purchase. (the blue-collar business owner who drives a van is hands down my favorite client). Yes, I have made mistakes throughout the years, but I have learned through them and mostly from my clients. Tom Masano Auto Group is like a big family, a great place to work and a great place to learn, from veteran car guys to new hires with their fresh ideas.
PM: How are you able to help Entrepreneurs via your job?
GKA: As the Sprinter Brand Manager at Tom Masano Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, I will say we have been successful in helping companies reduce their fleet operating and cost of ownership expenses.
PM: What advice would you give someone about buying their dream car?
GKA: Hmmm. Your dream car should always be the one that you are buying next, never buy more than what you need or more than what you can afford… buy what makes you happy but also suits your current needs. If you align yourself to a certain goal without jumping ahead, one day you will find yourself in a car you could not imagine you would ever drive. Trust the process, baby steps go a long way. And always ask yourself, “Am I doing the most productive thing right now.”
