On May 2, 1939, in the city of Caguas Puerto Rico, a tremendous Puerto Rican was born and named Ambrosio Carrasquillo Torres, today better known as Don Lolo. He, along with his parents Pedro Carrasquillo and Carmen Torres, lived his childhood and youth in the Borinquen Atravesada neighborhood. Ambrose is the second-to-last of seven (7) children.
Don Lolo has 10 children: Antonio Jr., Luis, Carmen, María, Ana Iris, Daniel, Rafael, Roberto, Julios Ángel and José Miguel. Of these, nineteen (19) grandchildren and thirteen (13) great-grandchildren were born, which have been his greatest blessings.
At the age of 12, Don Lolo began to sow the land and from that moment on, he discovered one of his greatest passions, agriculture. In this way, he has dedicated his entire life to working in the sowing and raising of livestock. His enthusiasm has been so great that, despite his age, he has his farm tended in which he has cows, oxen, calves, and chickens. He grows bananas, yautias, celery, chili peppers, and oranges.
By 1965, he acquired a plot of land in the Carite neighborhood, but it was not until 1971 that he was able to build a house and move in with his family. After many years of tilling and working the land, she decided to make an exchange of plots. It was then that, in 1986, he moved to the Roca 8A estate in the same neighborhood, where he currently lives with his entire family.
Upon hearing the name Don Lolo, we can immediately appreciate what a great human being he is. A man with Christian principles, humble, with a gentle character, and much loved and respected by his family and neighbors. He is a man who stands out for his joy, who works hard, and is always available to help others.
For this and much more, on, May 4, 2024, God allowed us to celebrate the 85th birthday of our beloved Don Lolo Carrasquillo, Son, Brother, Uncle, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. We love you; may God bless you today, tomorrow, and always.
As Abuelo would say: “Wipiti, now let’s all get to work, all our crops are gone.”
