Many women are breaking into traditionally male-dominated industries like working in dealerships, and I am not talking about office jobs but on the floor selling cars. It is great to see more women in the car sales industry today. It is encouraging that some dealerships, like Tom Masano’s, are ahead of the curve regarding diversity and inclusivity. Thanks, Tom Masano for recognizing the benefits of having more women in sales roles and making sure they have the necessary support and resources to not only succeed but excel in this industry.
Tom Masano has a few women as car sales representatives, but one has always stuck out and that is Maura Logrono. Besides the asset of being bilingual, she has an outgoing personality and is loved by many. I have been told by other women that they feel comfortable with Maura, even saying that she makes them feel confident in their purchases. When you walk into the dealer, she is the shining light with her welcoming face and attitude, and I feel if you are a woman who is good at sales, bilingual, and has the right attitude you can excel in this male-dominated business in a big way.
The auto industry must recognize the benefits of recruiting, keeping, and promoting women in sales roles, and if they are bilingual that is a plus with the ever-growing Latino population in Berks County. By doing so, they can increase profits, make customers happier, and create a more diverse and inclusive industry. It is time to break down the barriers preventing women from entering the car sales industry and ensure that they have the necessary support and resources to not only succeed but excel in this industry. And we do not just need women in sales, they also should be in finance and insurance departments as well.
