“Say “NO” to a good thing so you can say “YES” to the Right Thing”. This quote has been the one thing that keeps me on track professionally; and allows me… and now you to evolve your business and your life! As a Leader, I promote connection through effective communication and actively listening to everyone. However, doing everyone’s suggestions and ideas is not leadership, unrealistic, and typically BAD for business! I’ve learned and now teach how to make your “Yes’s” powerful and your “No’s” meaningful… and it all starts with knowing, sharing, and implementing your Vision & Vision Factors!
What’s your Vision for your Team? Perhaps it’s, “We will be the best ______ to service our community!”. Yes, it’s generic but it works, and you can make it whatever you like as long as it’s simple and to the point… Leaders tend to be wordy and my rule is, if you’re 13-year-old can’t say it and understand it, it’s too dang long! Your Vision may sound nice, but does nothing for you, your team, or your community without Vision Factors! What are the 3-5 things that when done consistently, your Vision must come true? Once you know them, stop focusing on your Vision and consistently DO your Vision Factors; evolving them as necessary… and watch what happens!
The great thing is, when your Team or people share ideas… when they fit inside the Vision Factors, it’s an easier “Yes.” When they don’t, explain to the VF and ask them (on their own time) to fit their idea within the Factors. When they can, great! When they can’t, the idea may be good but bad timing. I’ve found people may not like your “No,” but they’ll respect it because you know where you’re going!
The Vision & Vision Factors are the first building block of what I call The Leader’s 3! I share the other two in my book, The Leader’s Toolbox! Have an awesome rest of your month, enjoy your Evolution, and continue to EVOLVE at www.youevolvingnow.com
