I’ll never forget a quote I heard years ago that stuck with me and impacted my life and relationships, “A great sign of intelligence is being able to say a lot in a little”. Perhaps it was my ADHD, my wife says she can see the exact moment I check out of a conversation or a group setting, Lol!
This was extremely difficult during my school days, forcing myself to stay on task was an internal battle I didn’t understand, and no one saw. Therefore, my teachers, parents, coaches, and bosses… saying a lot in a little would have helped! Perhaps it was the 20-page papers I had to write in college when I could have given my thoughts in four. Or, in my employee days listening to the new CEO or speaker come in to introduce themselves or give a speech and they sounded like a politician… saying a lot of words but saying nothing… sound familiar?
