My decision in high school to pursue an education in printing at Reading Muhlenberg Vo-Tech, now called Reading Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center, has proven to be immensely valuable in my career as a printer technician at RMCTC. As a student, graduating in 1998, I was taught all the essential skills, and industry-specific knowledge and was offered a hands-on experience that advanced my professional growth and helped me excel in my career.
When I was a student at RMCTC, I was exposed to a wide range of printing processes, including offset, digital, and screen printing. This comprehensive education provided me with a solid foundation and in-depth knowledge of various printing processes as well as showed me what my strengths, and limitations were and how I could overcome them. Understanding these processes allows me to analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot technical issues effectively while optimizing the performance of the printing equipment we use at the CTC.
The printing industry is continually evolving with technological advancements and changing market demands. During my education at RMCTC, I learned the importance of continuous learning and adaptation. I gained exposure to emerging technologies, such as computer-to-plate systems, digital workflow management, and automated printing processes. This knowledge has enabled me to stay up to date with industry trends and embrace modern technologies, making me a valuable asset in a rapidly changing industry.
Screen printing is a large part of our workflow and is one of my favorite skills I have learned. I am proud to be a former student and graduate of RMCTC but also glad to have built a career at RMCTC as well.
