Arizaidith Hernandez and Matthew LaPish are both 11th-grade Information Technology Web Design students who are currently together at an internship with LMG Marketing, but their success story didn’t start there. They were SkillsUSA competitors for Web Design, placing 3rd in the district, and then competed again in Chapter Display, placing 5th in Pennsylvania for their time machine design, which was a collaboration project between many classes.
When asked what RMCTC has done for them, Arizaidith replied, “Attending CTC has been the greatest decision, and has made a lasting impression on my future. I was given a head start in college with RACC dual enrollment, gained experience within the industry through my internship, and networked heavily during my years here. Ms. Pison allowed us to interact with an engineer at NASA and a DreamWorks animator during class. The CTC has given me opportunities a normal high school student doesn’t have.” Arizaidith will be attending the Carnegie Mellon University artificial intelligence camp over the summer.
When asked, Matthew attributes his success to, “Being at the CTC has given me the confidence to step outside my comfort zone and interact with others in a professional manner. I would never have had the opportunity to compete in SkillsUSA without Ms. Pison guiding me. The skills that I have learned in this class, along with RACC dual enrollment, has helped me to gain an internship with LMG Marketing. I have learned leadership skills through SkillsUSA and volunteering as a student ambassador.” Matthew plans to attend Penn State Berks for Cyber Security after graduation.
