After COVID people realized the benefits of the outdoors and many even started creating an oasis in their own backyards. One part of outdoor living is cooking outside, and people no longer just want to have a grill but want to have an actual complete working kitchen outside. We truly have come full circle to our ancestor’s way of cooking but with some extra style.
The average national cost of outdoor kitchens is between $6k to about $25k+. Of course, the more complex or high-end it could be a lot more. So, the question is, do you do it yourself or do you hire a professional? I myself love to hire a professional, they usually take way less time to do it, and its less stress and anxiety. Before you get stressed out, keep in mind that having an outdoor kitchen can extend your area of living and surely add value to your home or space if properly done.
What determines the price of an Outdoor Kitchen:
- Size & Design
- Materials
- Appliances
- Plumbing
- Electrical & Lighting
- Installation, Labor, and Permits
Additional costs that could also affect the price are any enclosures or coverings, ceiling fans, outdoor fireplace, flooring, & furniture, etc.
Obviously hiring a PRO will be more expensive than doing it yourself but doing it yourself still requires you to buy the materials, bring them to your home, do the design or layout, measure, and install it all. You need tools, safety equipment, and permits, and possibly still need to hire a plumber or electrician. It’s your decision but if you decide on DIY don’t forget to “measure twice and cut once”.
