My name is Angelina Bell and I’m planning my path. I am a senior in the Building and Property Maintenance program (BPM) at RMCTC. The BPM program teaches you a variety of careers, such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and more. We learn to balance many trade areas to become versatile employees able to handle any job. As a freshman, I chose BPM because I wanted a range of learning to give me more than one option for my future career. I have always enjoyed building various things and challenging myself to learn new skills to aid in my future goals.
My instructor, Mr. Tylka, has been one of the best teachers I’ve had in school. He is patient and cares about the education we, as students, receive to become star employees.
This school year, I received an opportunity through Career Link to intern at RMCTC. I work as an assistant to the supervisor of Building and Grounds, doing clerical work that will benefit me if I pursue construction management. I also complete maintenance around the school and work with the maintenance technicians. Cory Schmaldinst is the supervisor of Building and Grounds at RMCTC. He’s a great boss, as he always ensures I am applying the skills I have learned to real-world work. It is great to also work with Josiah Ferrer, one of my classmates, to complete tasks as part of the maintenance team.
I plan to extend my education at a technical college for electrical technology, but also study business management to aid me in ultimately owning my own construction/electrical business. Reading Muhlenberg CTC has given me the skills to reach out and grab all opportunities to become a successful tradeswoman!
