Leadership can be a lonely place, but it doesn’t have to be! However, as a leader, it’s necessary to anticipate periods of loneliness… as you stand higher and see further than others, there will be decisions you make that won’t be understood or agreed with by others because they don’t have your perspective, sit in your seat, read your emails, etc.
As a leader, there will be times when your consistent learning, reading, growth, and evolution will separate you from your professional peers, friends, and sometimes family! There may be times when your Dream is for YOU, but not for others… and for you to succeed… you may have to be the only one that believes in YOU for a while, and that has to be OK! I could go on, but you get the point! So, what to do?
Although periods of loneliness must be expected by a leader; human beings aren’t meant to function that way for long periods of time. 3 Ways to Evolve and Care for Yourself at the Same Time!
- Love your loved ones (family and friends) for who they are; not who you want them to be… and modify the amount of time and ways you interact to best maintain great relationships!
- Say hello to everyone, but network with those in your organization and life that exhibit the 3P’s: Positive, Passionate, and Productive… Be mindful to intentionally add great people to your life!
- Be sure to schedule time with those individuals… old friends, The 3P’s (old and new), and time for YOU into your calendar and follow through with the date you set with no excuses!
I hope this helps and you enjoy it as it would be a shame to achieve “Success” and have no one to share it with… Be Mindful!
