I love this time of the year because it’s a time when people like to give a little more than normal to their community, employees, family, and friends. For PM this entire year was a great year of giving back, we were able to help more organizations than we are normally able to do and I’m so grateful for that. We donated to back-to-school events, and youth foundations, and did small sponsorships as well. Keep in mind that giving back doesn’t always have to be monetary, we also did some community & volunteer work, talked at several schools, participated in committees, and gave a lot of business advice to friends and business owners. You would be surprised what counts as giving back.
We were also blessed with recognition for our years of hard work. I myself was recognized numerous times and received three awards this 2022. I felt so honored to have received the 2022 Mujer a Mujer Award, the 2022 Power 100 Who’s Who in Latino Pennsylvania Award, and the “Boriquén Award” from the National Puerto Rican Agenda organization. There is no better feeling than receiving an award when you least expect it. In addition, Palo Magazine was selected to be featured in an upcoming GRCA marketing campaign in order to tell our story and that also is a true blessing.
One of our biggest blessings is our work, and we are thankful for having this platform called Palo. We were once again able to live up to our slogan of “Every Palo has a story” because we made sure to include so many people in the community and tell their stories. We told stories of unsung heroes and people that are going the extra mile. We did stories on community leaders, twins, a barber and his growing expo, local business owners, and other successful people in the community, we included our women and our seniors and just in general we celebrated life.
If asked what I’m personally grateful for I would start with being able to work for myself, also the one that I love the most is that I’m able to work from home and not have to deal with traffic or the morning hustle and bustle. I’m also at a point in my life where I don’t have to take on everything to help my business, I pick and choose what vibes with my mood. I make my own schedule; therefore, I hardly ever have an appointment on a Monday. These are all great gifts that I give to myself all year round, like the gift that keeps giving.
Happy Holidays to all!!!! Don’t forget to be grateful for what you already have as you can’t be blessed with more if you don’t appreciate what you already have.
