I’m Ilary Perez Pina and I am currently a student at the RMCTC in the Sewing and Clothing Manufacturing program. I joined at the beginning of my sophomore year in 2021, and my journey here has been amazing in developing and mastering new skills and being prepared when new opportunities arise.
Thanks to my incredible teacher, Ms. Rubin, I got the chance to participate in FCCLA for the fashion construction category, where I had to construct a garment from a pattern envelope, make a presentation, and compete against other talented young adults. Ms. Rubin taught me new skills as well as mastering skills I already had, resulting in winning gold medals at states and nationals in San Diego, CA.
Nationals gave me a taste of what my future would look like, with all the knowledge I have gained here, if I continue applying it in the outside world. In addition, I have been gaining leadership skills and have become the president of the SCM program. The vision of my future has been getting clearer every month because I keep learning more about what I am currently passionate about and traveling to places where I meet new people and experience new things.
If you put your mind into something you can manifest it to your reality; and I am living proof of that. I am very thankful for the staff and advisors at the RMCTC because they all put their heart and genuine intentions into the future of their students. Why wouldn’t you want to join?
