I do work out while traveling, and putting it into perspective, if your vacation involves a lot of walking, you are working out too.
Even if you are taking a cruise, you can exercise in many different ways. I read once from health fitness revolution magazine that snorkeling, even though it is a recreational pastime, can help to motivate, tone, and trim you. It works out quads, hamstrings, calves, ankles, hip flexors, core, and shoulders. Snorkeling improves overall strength and endurance, reduces stress, and burns about three hundred calories an hour.
If you are one of those persons who feel guilty when they don’t exercise, then you are like me. When planning my vacations, I usually pick a hotel with a 24-hour gym. If your hotel doesn’t have a gym, no worries, you can still exercise by walking at least three miles a day to make it worth your while or ten thousand steps. If your vacation includes sightseeing, it will most likely include tons of walking; make sure you have an apple watch or an app that tracks your steps.
Eating healthy is not impossible when traveling; most people may eat more carbohydrates than usual. When you eat carbohydrates, your body converts those carbs into glucose to fuel your brain and muscles when working out. Therefore, eating pasta, pizza, and bread is not the world’s end.
You can always take a break from your healthy eating habits and enjoy yourself traveling the states or the world. And yes, you may gain some weight, but you can level it off by exercising while vacationing, eating less, or dieting when you return, so don’t worry too much and enjoy your trip!
