His name is Christian Méndez, he was born and raised in Guatemala and came to the US at the age of 17. He worked in construction for several years and opened Méndez Flooring in 2016 in a smaller location. Today he has a big, beautiful showroom right on the corner of 3rd & Penn Avenue in West Reading.
I was following him on social media for a while as his work caught my attention, then one day I met him in person at a local supply store and just knew I had to make mention of his work in the magazine.
PALO: What is the best part of your business?
MÉNDEZ: The best part is meeting and serving people and also building friendships.
Christian is also a family man, he is married with 3 children, and his children love to visit him when he is working nearby.
PALO: Why did you open this business?
MÉNDEZ: I want to give a better life to my family that is growing and again truly helping people in extreme poverty in Guatemala where I am originally from.
His goal as a company is to provide the best customer service, quality products, and competitive prices. As a company, he also believes in giving back to communities in need, especially in Guatemala, where he has built homes for needy families.
