Palo Magazine’s small Q & A with barber Eric Rodriguez from Mike & Joe’s about the Berks County Barber Battle.
Question: When and why was the Berks County Barber Battle started?
Answer: It all started when I was asked to do some platform haircuts at a Sneaker Expo by my good friend Junior Rivera. When we saw the turnout, we said let’s collaborate and do a Barber Battle Kick Jam.
Question: How many years ago did the Barber Battle start?
Answer: This year 2022, was our 6th annual show. We have grown every year bigger and bigger and we are known as one of the best shows in Pa and one of the best on the East coast.
Question: Do you have special categories? And is it just people from Berks County competing?
Answer: This year we had 5 categories with over 75 barbers competing from all over the country as far as TX, FL, VA, and Even St. CROIX. We have outgrown our venue and are ready to bring everyone our biggest and baddest show in March of next year.
