Considering there are many people that could be suffering from Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Infertility, it is important that a couple contemplates screening before marriage. Diseases like Hepatitis and HIV will continue through life and need to be managed properly. The presence of these illnesses can put a lot of pressure on the marriage from the start.
HIV and STD Test: Knowing your partner’s health status as well as your own is key. You can seek medical help if you or your partner turns out to be positive. It is important to know that those infected require care and support all through their life. Other sexually transmitted diseases that you can check for are syphilis, gonorrhea, bacterial vaginosis, and warts, which can be treated properly if diagnosed early. Such treatment also reduces the risk of infertility and miscarriage issues during the marriage.
Fertility Test: Getting a fertility test done is recommended for all couples that are considering starting a family. This is important as it gives you time to address any issues as early as possible without the added genetic, emotional, and societal strain connected to infertility for either partner.
These tests may include semen analysis to check for male fertility and an ovulation test to check fertility in women. To find genetic or developed abnormalities in the reproductive organs, a pelvic ultrasound may be performed. Hormonal testing for both the man and woman is also recommended.
To avoid a breakdown of the marriage due to health issues, it is recommended that these medical tests be considered before marriage. Check with your physician for more information!
