In this month we will close another year on this planet earth. Statistically and although we believe it impossible, it is during the holiday season when the number of suicides and depression in people rises.
What a contrast that for many is a time of joy, parties, gifts, family reunions however others it’s the time when they decide to end their lives. Either because they feel lonely, forgotten or worse, they feel lost and failed because another year ends without being able to do anything different in their lives or without finding happiness. And sadly, many suffer because they cannot buy gifts or see their families.
How ironic life is as human beings with time are becoming more inhuman, insensitive living with an ego and without any meaning. It breaks my heart the things I see on social networks, how people seek every moment to destroy other people and their reputations, bullying them, arguing over nonsense. I wonder, where we are headed? Is this the world I want for my granddaughters?
No, I wish for my family and for each and every one of you a better world. I hope that this end of the year you can make the decision to be a better person and therefore that you are that role model for your children. Let’s try to make a difference, let’s embrace peace, let’s also pay attention to our neighbors and acquaintances. If you know of a person who does not have a family and is going through a bad time, please do not leave them alone, invite them and share these festivities with that person because who knows if you are that one instrument that God used to persuade them not to end their life.
This Christmas I wish you the peace that only Christ can give you. And that you decide to start 2022 with a much more compassionate and loving attitude. Happy Holidays!
