This month we are going to Greece, well I’m not going for now, but it is on my bucket list for sure. Lucky, the owner of Bar-B-Q Pit who is featured on our November Seniors cover this month is a Greece immigrant and you will learn about his travels to the USA about 55 years ago and you will also learn about a group of Latinos from Berks County who recently traveled from the USA to Greece and fell totally in love with it.
I bet you are thinking our topics this month are about traveling but it’s actually about seniors, but I feel traveling should be part of their lives as well, but they shouldn’t leave all their traveling till after retirement. I mentioned this because I saw a post on social media where an older couple is in Paris on a Gondola, but they were asleep and the caption reads, “this is why you must travel while you are young.” I thought it was so funny, yet it has truth to it, people we need to start traveling more and not leave it all for retirement.
In addition to how healthy it is to travel, this month we cover great topics such as appreciating retirement (it didn’t really exist back in the day) learn more about that in the Berks History Center’s article. We have articles on how seniors feel when the lose their independence, conversations with seniors, dating after a certain age, traveling to live, hair aging, fragile bones, how dogs and music are beneficial to seniors and even an article on how a widow goes on living without her other half.
These are all great topics so make sure to check out this November edition of Palo Magazine and don’t forget to appreciate the seniors in your life. If COVID taught us something, it’s to appreciate and spend more time with our loved ones. Many seniors suffer from depression and feel lonely and just want company. Stop by this week in a safe form and visit your favorite senior, they will be so happy to see you. Thanks to Lucky and Realtor Jaime Perez for sharing their Greece stories with our readers.
