The Ecuadorian Community in Reading is Growing Significantly
In an effort to unite and get to know more Ecuadorians in the area, a group called ECUAReading was created. This group has a Facebook page with many followers or members and has been motivating the integration of the Ecuadorian community since 2019.
This year, to celebrate the Independence Day of Ecuador, a community gathering was coordinated sharing typical Ecuadorian dishes, sports, music and dance. It was an unforgettable experience for all the families that attended. The Ecuadorian community accepted this activity with great enthusiasm and the participation surpassed expectations.
This celebration of Ecuadorian independence could not end better when in a solemn act the Mayor of the City of Reading, Mr. Eddie Morán, in a civic celebration declared August 10, 2021, as National Day of the Ecuadorian community in Reading. On this day, the Ecuadorian tricolor flag was raised for the first time in this city, singing the National Anthem together and celebrating Independence. Mayor Moran’s wife accompanied him to this celebration to also celebrate her Ecuadorian roots, since she is half Puerto Rican and half Ecuadorian.
Now more than ever, the Ecua Reading group will continue on this path of integration, where the Ecuadorian community continues to offer the best of themselves for the development and progress of the City of Reading, which has opened its doors to them and is now their home.
