What a dream this is, I’ve been working towards opening a curly hair salon and the time is finally here! I started my curly hair journey over 5 years ago. Like many other women I decided to cut my straight (heat damaged hair) and start over. All I wanted was to be a role model for my daughter and make sure she knew how beautiful she was with her curly hair. Little did I know what my curly hair transition would lead to.
I started blogging my journey on social media and met other women who were also transitioning their hair. I would constantly get questions about the products I used, techniques and about how I cut my hair. This lead me to discover that I had a passion for working with curly hair. This was when the idea to open a curly hair salon first came to me.
Along with my husband, we started planning to open a curly hair salon in the Reading area. The first step was to enroll in beauty school and get my cosmetology license. While attending school I worked on other aspects of the business. Upon graduating, I enrolled in classes to ensure that I had all the tools and resources to provide great services for people with curly hair.
I am so happy that Texture Curl Bar is now a reality! Texture Curl Bar is the first curly hair salon in Berks County. We specialize in cutting, coloring, and treating curly hair. We also specialize in educating clients on what hair texture they have and how to work with it. They leave my salon with an understanding that they don’t have bad hair as some may call it, just curly hair. I named the salon Texture Curl Bar and not just Curl Bar because I wanted to emphasize the importance of being inclusive to all texture hair types. My goal is to offer the best services to an underserved community because our curls deserve the best.

Our grand opening was on Friday June 25th, and it was an amazing success. I am so full of joy and cannot wait to meet all the curly girls in the area!
