If you ask this question to the youth, they will probably answer that technology is not for the elders, but that is far from reality… middle-aged and older adults are adopting technology more and more quickly and for very varied reasons.
Connecting with friends and family is one of those reasons because having the opportunity to see clearly those you love and are far away with just one click (to activate a video call) and creating unforgettable moments has led them to learn more and more about the different applications that are on the market for this purpose.
Another reason is independence as when it comes to shopping, the option to buy online either for themselves or send a gift to a loved one on their special day motivates them to join and learn where and how to buy.
There are many reasons that motivate middle-aged and older adults to join the use of technology, like having fun, learning and let’s not forget that health has also been added with the pandemic. Technology has allowed them to be informed and making virtual consultations with their doctor an option.
My response is that technology is for anyone who wants to learn and who wants to take advantage of it.
