If you like to dance, I have great news for you, dancing can help you burn calories and make you lose those extra pounds.
Dancing is an aerobic exercise that requires the use of energy and coordination. Reduces stress levels, increases heart rate, and helps with endurance. Dancing also increases muscle strength especially those in the legs. It also strengthens the bones and the maintenance of the joints. Most dances also require the muscles to be stretched and this helps creating flexibility.
A dance routine can burn 200 to 800 calories depending on the type of dance, the person’s metabolism, and the intensity with which it is performed. Among the dances that make you lose the most calories you can found ballet with which you can lose about 450 calories. Dancing hip hop you can lose 400 calories. Latin dances like Salsa, Merengue and Bachata are high impact and high intensity in which you can burn 300 to 400 calories. Zumba dancing can help you burn 300 to 500 calories. All these calories can be burned off in an intense hour of dancing.
Although if it is true that dancing can be an exercise, you must be aware of some things depending on what your goal is. If your goal is to lose weight, you should know that the frequency should be at least 3 times a week of one hour each. The intensity with which it is done is crucial if we want to lose weight. Something that you cannot forget is that you must eat a healthy and balanced diet. Dancing for an hour and then having a pizza with a soda will not give you the physical results you are looking for.
If you dance only once a week or occasionally it does not count as the exercise you need to achieve your physical goals. I recommend you have an exercise routine 4 days a week and complement it with a day of dancing.
