Have you ever purchased a hair conditioner and felt like it did nothing for your curls? I know the feeling. Curly hair has very specific needs and therefore the conditioners we use for our curls needs to have certain characteristics to work. I wish there were a one size fits all conditioner but that is not how curly hair works.
Curly hair tends to be dry, frizzy and tangle very easily. Additionally, your curls might also have other needs that are specific to you; maybe you have a dry scalp, or dandruff, or high porosity. Therefore, it is important to fully analyze your hair and scalp, identify your needs and then look for a conditioner that fulfills those needs.
In general, the best conditioners for curly hair have good slip for easy detangling, moisturize the hair, stabilize the hair’s porosity, and minimize frizz. I also prefer to use conditioners with the least amount of harmful chemicals and ideally ones that use clean and organic ingredients. My favorite conditioner is from the Jamaican Black Caster Oil line by Shea Moisture. I love how soft this conditioner makes my hair feel.
I encourage you to analyze your curls and your scalp to identify it is needs and then you can pick the best conditioner for you especially for this cold weather coming soon.
