Her name is Luisa Suarez and she is Dominican from Mao Valverde but raised in Puerto Rico since she was 9 years old. She decided to move to Reading together with her husband looking for new opportunities and a change. Due to language limitations, she worked various jobs as a cook, making food deliveries and before becoming a businesswoman she worked at Ashley Furniture and Deka.
She tells us that it was somehow by accident that she entered this type of business. She just simply wanted to impress her father-in-law with an egg custard back in 2009 and that combined with various feedbacks from others, she discovered her passion for baking which she kept on the back burner while doing other jobs. She never took courses or studied, this is a talent that came naturally to her.
After her second baby and with so many complications during her pregnancy, she was forced to leave her job. And one day she made the decision to step forward and empower herself with her abilities and do what she really enjoyed and that also filled her soul by accepting the gift that God had placed in her. And with the help of her husband José Suarez she fully dedicated herself to what she really wanted and thanks to the dedication and support of so many people in the community of Reading; she was finally able to open her first bakery. They saw so much need for a bakery that offered a variety of desserts, personalized cakes at affordable prices for all types of budgets, especially in the Latin market.
Luisa hopes to serve as an example to many and to all who have a dream. Never give up no matter how difficult the road is! You should view each fall or obstacle, as something to make yourself stronger and also for you to embrace that which fills your heart with satisfaction. They are located at 50 North 5th Street in Reading, Pa.
