We are living in a new world. This pandemic has served to teach us how fragile the systems that we trust truly are. Hospitals in many places are unprepared for the infected, many courts are closed, and much of the legal process is paralyzed. As an immigration, criminal defense, and real estate attorney, the pandemic has greatly changed the services that are available to clients.
Immigration courts are closed, fingerprinting interviews, oaths, and appointments are also closed. Many immigration cases will be affected and delayed. Immigration continues to process incoming applications. People with appointments in other countries should not go out as embassies are closed and they can get stuck in their country.
Criminal and civil courts are also mostly closed except for emergencies and certain cases that are already ready for sentencing. Thank God, emergency items like getting protective orders are still in effect.
Here in America, we work hard, we work long hours and we are always running from one commitment to another. That is why, although we are in this time of catastrophe, we should look at what is good. We can spend more time with the family, we can sit down and plan for the future, finish the projects that we had started, but not finished. Here are several ideas on how you can use this time:
- Take a business English course
- Take a virtual dance course
- Take the Real Estate course
- Work on the 5-year plan for your company
- Do maintenance projects around the house
Whatever you do with this time, protect yourself and don’t focus on the negative that exists in this world there is already a lot of that. Think of the Solution, Not the Problem!
