So, mothers often ask me, “when is a good age to allow my daughter to start wearing makeup?” As much as many would like for me to state a specific age, it’s difficult. Every girl matures at a different time. While some mothers are very strict about it, others don’t mind when their daughters start at all. Some may believe their daughters are trying to grow up too fast and others will argue that they’re just trying to become in touch with their feminine side.
I personally think it’s a little bit of everything…maturity level, readiness to explore their feminine side, and parents comfort level
Once they’re past elementary school age and showing signs of some maturity, a good thing to start them out with is lipgloss. Lipgloss is soft enough to not make them look too grown but just enough to let them get their feet wet. They can eventually upgrade to tinted lipgloss and a small amount of mascara until they’re mature enough to wear a soft and simple makeup look.
Simply use your judgment as a parent and don’t forget to advise them that wearing makeup comes with the responsibility of always washing their face prior to going to bed.
