The priority of each parent is the welfare of their children. We try to give them good home, good clothes but we don’t always teach them healthy habits. Here are some tips to improve the health and good development of our children.
- Be a role model. Our children imitate us from an early age. If as parents we are sedentary we will not inspire them to be different. We must avoid showing that overeating is a way to escape difficult emotions, they will assimilate that rewarding oneself with junk food can be used as an antidepressant. It is important to plan physical activities. Enroll your kids in sports programs. You can go on a family walk once a week or do a competition at home that involves exercising. The idea is to be on continuous movement while enjoying quality time with the family.
- Create healthy routines. Make sure that your kids have at least 8 hours of sleep. That means they turn off electronic devices at least 45 minutes before going to sleep. The brain will have the opportunity to relax from so much visual and auditory overstimulation. This will make them more productive in school. Learning will be better and they will be more alert.
- Not Negotiable. Definitely if we want to have good nutrition at home there are products that have to be eliminated without negotiation: Sodas, colored juices, colored cereals, sweet cookies, etc. These are extremely saturated with different kinds of sugars and artificial colors and flavors. The daily consumption of these is linked to diabetes, problems of hyperactivity and learning. It would be ideal to plan all your meals on a weekly basis. Healthy breakfasts, snacks to take to school, etc.
Prioritize time with the family and stimulate good communication. It is very important to create these habits the younger they are the better it is. Apart from improving the health of your children, these activities will create memories in your children that you will remember as adults and they will repeat them with their kids.
