Location, Location!! In my personal, past experiences, when picking a hotel, price isn’t the first thing that comes to my mind. Location is incredibly important, not just for safety but for other considerations.
After I know where the hotel needs to be located, then I make sure that hotel includes breakfast, then I read the reviews and I pay close attention to cleanliness and customer service.
I judge a hotel by the way it looks as soon as I step into it. I hope for a smile from the employees in the reception area. If you are not afraid of heights, I recommend you get a higher floor because if the hotel is located in a busy city, you’ll most likely hear traffic from the lower floors.
Some people say that they can get any hotel because “they only use it to sleep,” which is okay, too, but remember if you want something to eat late at night, or a pharmacy and don’t want to take a taxi, a hotel in a good location will have pretty much all you need right at your feet.
I have stayed in many different brand names hotels, and they usually never disappoint me (Marriott, Belmont, Hilton, Fairmont, etc.) However, I’ve also stayed in minimally-known hotels and they’ve been great too (the reviews are extremely important for these lesser known spots).
A happy stay will provide better memories for your vacation.
