Ladies, Have You Scheduled Your Annual Well-Woman Exam?
Many women have a well-woman or gynecological exam only when they are experiencing a problem. Yes, you should make an appointment for a problem, but your annual well-woman exam may help you avoid the problem visits.
The well-woman exam is more than just a pap test. It is an opportunity for women of all ages to have regular cancer screening, STI testing, ordering of preventive routine testing and an opportunity to discuss a variety of subjects. Beginning around age 18, women should schedule a well-woman exam. Just as all women are not the same, all well-women exams are tailored to the age and life stage of each woman.
Birth control, STI’s, incontinence and preventive care are just a few topics that may be on your mind. Perhaps you are thinking about starting a family or your family is grown, and you may be wondering about body changes you are experiencing. Your annual well-woman exam is a time just for you.
Most women have times in their lives where their emotions are astray. Whether it is early on in life, or for no known reason at all, it is important to have someone who you can feel comfortable talking to. Your annual well-woman visit is a welcome time to talk openly about how you are feeling.
Your well-woman exam – it will give you peace of mind and can end up saving your life.
