The last month of the year is usually a month of reflection for many people. There is so much to think about such as everything that you have been through in the last twelve months but also where you are headed in the following or upcoming twelve months. This sometimes could be a lot to take in. Some people get excited about it and love to set goals while others are sad especially if they lost loved ones during this time.
If you are thinking of the past months, there will be good and bad memories to be thought of, but we must remember that the only purpose of the past is to learn from it and to cherish great memories but that is it, no other reason. Life is truly about balance. You will find people that say you should only think about the now and not worry about the future. While others don’t know who to live the now because they are thinking about the future and I have learned that we should have a balance of both of these and that is when life will feel satisfying.
I truly believe that we struggle to enjoy the present and I think we need to slow down and smell the flowers more often but I can understand that if you live just for the now and you don’t prepare or save for a rainy day, then you will struggle. If you live solely preparing and saving, or just planning for the future and not having fun because you think you will do that at a later time, that time may never come; hence why I truly believe that we should live a balanced life. I think living a balanced life applies to everything. I think we should eat, sleep, pray, play, love, exercise, work, drink, travel but all with an even balance.
Just this past summer I went on a vacation and by the tenth day, I was dying to get back home because I wanted to sleep in my own bed with my own pillow. Because of that experience, I recently decided to take another vacation but I decided to only go for five to six days. It was enough to get away from reality for a few days and relax my brain but not too long where I would miss my bed, it was just the perfect amount of time.
Therefore my advice for this coming year 2020 is to do everything in moderation and you will not regret it. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
