Consider making new traditions this year. Find non-alcoholic drinks that will get you into the spirit and make great tasty drinks without alcohol. Consider apple cider, hot chocolate, a nada-margarita, specialty coffee drinks, a spritzer punch with sherbet or Spanish coconut nog.
Do activities with friends that don’t focus on alcohol. Get outdoors and see the holiday lights. Take a train ride or go to the movies all while creating new holiday traditions.
When attending a holiday party keep a NON-ALCOHOLIC beverage in your hand or close by. That way when someone offers you an alcoholic drink you can respond I already have a drink. Feel free to tell your friends that you’re staying sober when you’re at their party.
Offer to bring a non-alcoholic drink to share with others. For example, try making “Virgin Winter Sangria”. Serving size 8, 8oz glasses. *The key is you roast the fruit and you add tea!
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 blood oranges sliced •2 grapefruits sliced •1 cup cranberries
- 16 oz pomegranate juice •1 cup orange juice •2 chai tea bags
- (2) 12 oz cans of grapefruit-flavored sparkling water •Garnish: cinnamon sticks & cranberries
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake sliced oranges, sliced grapefruit, and cranberries for 30-40 minutes until cranberries burst and caramelize a bit. Meanwhile, boil pomegranate juice and orange juice, once boiling add tea bags and steep for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and add in caramelized fruit, stir and cool in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours.
Fill a glass half full of sangria mix and fill the rest of the glass with sparkling water & garnish.
