I remember my mother working so hard at her factory job for 23 years, always living paycheck to paycheck. That motivated me to get my bachelor’s degree, get a salaried job with benefits. I was then given a 401(k) I didn’t understand, I asked my coworkers and they didn’t understand either! I was then referred to a financial representative who taught me how money works and how to understand that confusing retirement plan. I couldn’t believe after all these years of schooling I was NEVER taught the rules to the money game! It was then that I realizedI was in for the biggest shock of my life when my mother told me she didn’t have one at the age of 56!
