Childcare is a necessity for many working parents that is, more often than not, priced as a luxury. According to a 2016 study by the Economic Policy Institute, Pennsylvania ranks 20th out of 50 states for most expensive childcare. The average cost for infant care is an incredible $887 per month and the cost for preschool-age children is just barely lower at $673 per month. To put it into perspective: this cost is comparable to an average PA resident’s monthly rent. The YMCA of Reading and Berks County aims to change the game and provide children a safe place to play, grow, and learn which won’t break the bank.
Since the 1980’s, the YMCA of Reading and Berks County has been providing quality, affordable childcare to families in the Reading area and surrounding communities. We offer traditional daycare for children aged six weeks to five years, before and after school care for children up to age twelve and, most recently, a free Pre-K Counts program for children aged 3-5. We strive to offer affordable care for all, and we take that promise seriously. At the YMCA we ensure that your child is in good hands.
