Elsie Maduro is from Patillas, Puerto Rico, and has been a resident of the Greater Reading area since 1985, where she has had a banking career expanding over 25 years.
Her humble beginnings started in Customer service and she climbed her way up to Vice President Senior Officer of Customers Bank, where she earned the Number 1 Leader of the PHFA (Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency) award for the last two consecutive years; making her the first woman minority to get this award. It’s the first time in the history of the PHFA that a person receives this prestigious award twice in a row. Elsie has been the recipient of PRIDE Award, Customer Service Award and many other accolades of the industry.
In her lending career, she has specialized in first-time home buyers, making dreams come true. Elsie is also part of the lending committee of NHS and is very well known as a community educator.
Elsie is a pioneer of the Spanish-language local media in Berks County. She was part of a show called “LATINISIMO” which began airing in the city of Reading in 1995 and ran for many years, also was part of the 100% TV show.
For me what makes this award even more worthy is that I know that Elsie has made this career for herself while smiling on the outside but some days broken on the inside. You see for the last couple of years Elsie has been in and out of the hospital with her grandson Jasiel due to his heart condition and also with her only daughter the mother of Jasiel dealing with her Lupus as well. It’s tough as a woman to go to work with a big smile and help other’s dreams come true and when you are dealing with so much emotional and personal stress and pain within your own family. So when you see Elsie please make sure to congratulate her.
